When you think of pictures from the Dolomites, birch trees are certainly not the first thing you think of ... mighty mountain landscapes and extreme weather conditions are certainly the flagship of this alpine region.
For me, too, the mountains were the big goal in the Dolomites. However, many pictures were taken where, without a description, it is not clear where they were taken. After taking my first photo round in the morning, I came back to the campsite to eat and to prepare for the rest of the day. Because of the narrow valley, it took the sun a long time to come over the mountains and free the valley from the frost of the night. A small cluster of birch trees shone anew every day at this time. The dark slopes on the other side of the valley contrasted coldly with the lit birch trees.
I tried to capture this mood in this picture.
This recording also made it into my gallery and can therefore be purchased as a print.
