Legendary beech forest on Rügen

The Photo of the Month - July 2020

The photo of the month was taken this month in the Jasmund National Park on Rügen. The Jasmund National Park has existed since September 1990 and is the smallest national park in Germany. The great attraction of the national park is of course the chalk cliffs. The primeval beech forest of the national park is no less interesting. The core of the national park has also been named Unesco World Heritage since 2011. A walk or a hike through this forest is a very special experience. In Germany, after centuries of economic use of the forest, we are not accustomed to such forests at all.
