It had rained heavily all Friday evening and according to the weather forecast it should continue to rain all night. About 2 hours before sunrise the rain should stop and the sky should become clear. That awakened in me the hope of fog and rising damp at sunrise. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the fog. There was a bit of local fog formation, but not where I would have liked it. So I wandered through the Wahner Heide without having found a motif. When I was already on the way back to the car and had resigned myself to not taking a photo that morning, I discovered this birch. You and the heather in the foreground were already illuminated by the sun. The trees in the background, on the other hand, were still in the shade. This combination ensures that the birch stands out wonderfully from its surroundings.
